VANDERBILT HOTEL | IJEOMA + NNAMDI

When Ijeoma contacted me to be her wedding photographer, I was dancing on one foot. It's not that I don't adore my other clients or their weddings—of course, I do—but the opportunity to photograph a Nigerian Wedding was incredibly inspiring. I delved into learning about their culture and quickly observed a Latino vibe, or maybe Latinos have their vibe; I'm not entirely sure.

The extraordinary wedding of Ijeoma and Nnamdi was a celebration brimming with color, culture, and tradition. They chose to unite at the Vanderbilt Hotel surrounded by family and friends. We commenced with classic preparation photos, capturing Nnamdi and his friends before transitioning to Ijeoma for similar shots. Photographs taken during the preparation process imbue meaning into the narrative of the day; every detail is significant and counts at this moment.

Ijeoma and Nnamdi, parents to three beautiful daughters, emphasize that the story isn't solely about the couple but about the family. Speaking of family, one notable Nigerian wedding tradition is the profound respect and honor they accord to elders and their advice—a presence felt during this wedding. The beautiful, vibrant dresses worn by family and friends, traditional dances, singing, and the symbolic shower of money for the couple constituted some of the highlights, making this event a unique story.

As the celebration concluded, Ijeoma and Nnamdi changed into traditional cultural attire to conclude their significant day. Their outfits bear the weight of generations of tradition, defining their culture wherever they are in the world.

Ijeoma and Nnamdi's wedding serves as a poignant reminder of why I'm a Destination Wedding Photographer—I relish being a part of people's significant days. For me, it's a blessing, and equally important is capturing every moment of their energy, happiness, cultures, and traditions—something I consider truly priceless.
